Ducted in Miranda mostly goes into 1960s brick and fibro homes on the flat streets between the Kingsway and the water, and they suit it well. The pitched concrete-tile roofs have a cavity with room for a full fan coil and rigid ducting, the blocks are regular so the condenser sits on a slab down the side, and there are no stairs or slopes to fight. We zone these homes as front bedrooms, rear living and, very often, the family room or sunroom that was added across the back in the 1980s or 90s under its own lower roof. Ducted running cost here is roughly $1–$2 per hour whole-home, and the same system heats the uninsulated 1960s homes on a clear winter night.
