Local knowledge

A service built around the Penrith summer

Heat is what wears equipment out here, so a service in the Penrith area is really a check on how the system will cope with its hardest week. We wash the outdoor coil, measure the temperature drop across the indoor coil, record the operating amps and test the capacitor and electrical contacts. Those are the parts that tend to fail first when a unit runs for hours in 40-degree heat. Spring is the time to book. A weak capacitor found in October can be replaced on a quiet day, instead of failing on a January afternoon when the house is already hot.

Where the outdoor unit sits decides how dirty it gets. Units near Werrington Lakes and the creek corridor, under the mature street trees on the older Erskine Park loops, along the bushland edge of Cranebrook toward Castlereagh, and on the Mulgoa Nature Reserve side of Glenmore Park collect leaves, seed and dust quickly. Emu Plains has river-flat trees on one side and escarpment bush on the other. A clogged coil cannot shed heat, and shedding heat is the one job a western Sydney condenser has to do well. Units on the open streets of Jordan Springs stay cleaner, but many are wedged against a side fence, so mention access when you book.

Plenty of homes around Kingswood, St Marys and Colyton are rentals, and some have a granny flat split out the back as well as the main system. List every unit when you book so each one is serviced and itemised on the report. Landlords receive a written record with before and after photos for the property file, which is useful between tenancies and when a tenant reports weak cooling. We set a reminder for the next visit at the interval agreed for that equipment.

Scope of work & pricing

What's included, and what moves the price

Servicing a single-head split costs $189, which covers a bedroom unit in a Werrington cottage or a granny flat split. Three heads on a multi-head system cost $329 to service, and a ducted system is $349, the usual price for the two-storey homes of Glenmore Park and Jordan Springs. Where a granny flat split and a main ducted system share one block, each is listed and priced on the booking.

Frequently asked

Common questions about air conditioning servicing & maintenance in Penrith

How often should air conditioning be serviced in the Penrith area?

Once a year is the minimum, ideally in spring before the heat arrives. Systems with condensers close to heavy tree cover, such as near Werrington Lakes or the Mulgoa Nature Reserve edge, may need the outdoor coil cleaned more often. We agree an interval based on your equipment and where it sits, then send a reminder when the next visit is due.

My Glenmore Park ducted system cools downstairs but not upstairs. Will a service fix it?

A service cleans the filters and coils and measures how the system is performing, which sometimes restores airflow. If the upstairs rooms are still weak afterwards, the cause is more likely a duct, zone or sizing problem, which needs its own investigation. The service report will note what we measured, so you know whether the next step is a repair or a redesign.

Does regular servicing matter for my manufacturer warranty?

Yes. Manufacturers generally expect regular professional servicing, and a written service history is what you show if a warranty claim is ever needed. For a new system, the first service falls at the twelve-month mark. Every report we leave lists the work done, the readings taken and before and after photos, so keep them with the paperwork from the install.

The outdoor unit at my Jordan Springs house is squeezed beside the fence. Can you still service it?

Usually, yes. Most condensers on small lots can be cleaned and checked in place if there is enough room to reach the coil and the service panel. Send a photo of the unit and the gap either side when you book. If the position makes a proper coil clean impossible, we will tell you, since a unit that cannot be cleaned tends to lose efficiency year on year.

Do you service systems that someone else installed?

Yes. We service all major brands, whether we installed them or not. Tell us the brand, rough age and type of each system, where the outdoor unit is mounted, and when it was last serviced if you know. On older systems we will note anything in the report that suggests a part is close to failing, so it can be dealt with before the summer.
