Ducted Air Conditioning Penrith
Ducted reverse-cycle for homes from the Nepean to Erskine Park, planned around the age of the house as much as the heat. Fibro cottages, 1980s brick veneer and post-2011 two-storey estates each call for a different system.

Local knowledge
Four housing eras, four different ducted jobs
The oldest ducted work in the council area goes into the 1950s and 60s grids of Cambridge Park, St Marys and Colyton. These single-storey fibro and brick homes usually have hip roofs with enough height for a compact indoor unit, but ceiling insulation is often thin or missing, and that changes the capacity we specify. Fibro sheeting also means every ceiling cut is marked out in advance. Werrington adds 1970s brick homes whose roof spaces run tighter than the cottages beside them, and across the river in Emu Plains some lower-pitched roofs need the duct route proven on site before a price is fixed. For a modest two-bedroom cottage, we will say so when splits are the better buy.
St Clair, Erskine Park and most of Cranebrook were built through the 1980s and 90s, and ducted there is mostly a changeover. The first systems went in with the houses and are now wearing out street by street. Trussed tile roofs take the new hardware without structural work, but thirty-odd years of extensions, enclosed patios and converted garages mean the original duct layout rarely matches the house as it stands. We redraw the zones around how the rooms are used today. Brick veneer in these suburbs soaks up the afternoon and keeps giving that heat back after dark, so we size for how quickly the system can bring the house down in the evening.
Glenmore Park and Jordan Springs are the two-storey end of the council area. Glenmore Park's 1990s and 2000s homes typically put four bedrooms upstairs over open living, and plenty of their first ducted units are now decades old. Jordan Springs went up from around 2011 with builder-spec systems, dark roof tiles, shallow eaves and neighbours close on both sides. In both suburbs the upstairs floor runs as its own zone, and the condenser position is worked out against the side setback and the neighbour's windows. On the Mulgoa Nature Reserve side of Glenmore Park we also leave clear room to get at the coil, because leaf litter builds up there.
Pricing
What ducted air conditioning costs in Penrith
Most single-storey three-bedroom homes in Cambridge Park, St Marys, Werrington and St Clair fall in the $11,000–$13,000 band. Four-bedroom homes in Cranebrook or Erskine Park usually sit at $13,000–$16,000. The two-storey houses of Glenmore Park and Jordan Springs, and five-bedroom homes on the Emu Plains fringe, start at $16,000. Running the whole house costs roughly $1–$2 per hour, and the $99 in-home assessment comes off the final invoice.

Ducted in Penrith homes
Penrith's older streets between the station and the river are full of postwar brick and fibro homes on generous blocks, and most have clean, accessible ceiling space that takes a standard ducted chassis without drama. Closer to the centre and through South Penrith, two-storey rebuilds and larger family homes suit 4–6 zones so bedrooms, living areas and upstairs can run independently. In units near the station, ducted rarely stacks up, so we steer those owners toward splits instead.
The heat is the real design driver here. Penrith regularly records the highest temperatures in the Sydney basin, with 45°C days arriving in serious heatwaves, so we size ducted systems for sustained extreme load rather than the milder assumptions used closer to the coast. Outdoor units go on southern or eastern walls where possible, out of the brutal afternoon westerlies, and we spec capacity with headroom so the system is not running flat out on the worst days.

Frequently asked
Common questions about ducted air conditioning in Penrith
My St Clair home still has its original ducted system. Can any of the old ductwork stay?
Sometimes. We go into the roof before quoting and look at every run. Duct that is intact, still insulated and still reaches the rooms you use can stay in place. Perished or collapsed runs, and any that stop short of an extension, get replaced. The indoor and outdoor units are swapped for a modern inverter system, and the zoning is redesigned around the way the house is lived in now.
Is ducted worth it in an uninsulated fibro house in Cambridge Park or Colyton?
It can be, but the insulation question comes first. A fibro home with little in the ceiling gains heat fast on a western Sydney afternoon, which pushes up the capacity you have to pay for. We check the ceiling at the quote and will tell you if an insulation top-up lets you buy a smaller system. On a small cottage, a multi-head split may be the better spend.
Why does upstairs in a Jordan Springs or Glenmore Park home need its own zone?
Because the two floors behave like different houses. Heat rises and collects in the bedrooms, and in Jordan Springs the dark roof tiles push more of it into the shallow ceiling space right above them. With upstairs on its own zone, the bedrooms can be cooled hard at night while the empty living area downstairs is switched off, which is where the running cost savings come from.
Can the ducted system also cover the granny flat on our Kingswood block?
Usually that is not the best plan. A granny flat behind the main house is a separate building, often with its own occupants, and running ducts across to it adds cost and ties both homes to one controller. A dedicated wall split for the flat is the usual answer, with ducted in the main house. We quote both together so the outdoor units are placed sensibly on the block.
Do you install ducted in Emu Plains and Leonay, across the river?
Yes. West of the Nepean is core territory for us, not an out-of-area job. The 1960s to 80s brick homes there are mostly single storey, though some lower-pitched roofs need the duct routes confirmed at a site visit. Larger homes on the semi-rural edges usually need more zones and more capacity, which we work out from the actual rooms and their exposure rather than the bedroom count.
